What is flock printing?
Flock is a printing technique that creates a velvety texture by applying textile fibers onto an adhesive surface. The result is a raised design, soft to the touch, and very durable when cared for correctly.
Unlike other flatter printing techniques, flock provides a distinctive finish that requires certain specific care.
1. Wash the t-shirt inside out
Before putting the garment in the washing machine, turn it inside out.
This simple action protects the print from rubbing against other garments and reduces wear caused by the washing machine drum.
It also helps to better preserve both the color of the t-shirt and the texture of the flock.
2. Use cold water or gentle cycles
High temperatures are one of the main enemies of textile prints.
We recommend:
- Washing at a maximum of 30°C.
- Using delicate cycles.
- Avoiding excessively long wash cycles.
Cold water not only protects the print but also reduces energy consumption and helps extend the lifespan of fabrics.
3. Avoid the dryer
While convenient, the dryer generates heat and friction that can affect the texture of the flock.
The best option is to:
- Remove the t-shirt from the washing machine immediately after washing.
- Gently reshape it.
- Allow it to air dry.
This method helps preserve both the print and the original structure of the garment.
4. Do not iron directly on the print
If you need to iron the t-shirt:
- Always do it inside out.
- Use a low temperature.
- Avoid applying heat directly to the flock.
Excessive heat can deform the velvety texture and reduce its original appearance.
5. Use mild detergents
Harsh detergents or those with bleaching agents can progressively deteriorate both the fabric and the print.
Whenever possible:
- Use mild detergents.
- Avoid bleach.
- Do not overuse harsh fabric softeners.
